Positive Learning for Positive Futures
Discovery Schoolhouse uses the nationally recognized “A Beka Curriculum for children ages 18 months and older. Our infants and Toddlers benefit from the well known “Innovations Curriculum for Infants and Toddlers” and “Sign with Your baby.” These curricula along with the Discovery Schoolhouse Core Curriculum will prepare Discovery Schoolhouse students for a successful and positive experience in elementary school. The goal of our curriculum is to focus on the child, whom we work around, hence being able to bring forth an active, caring, lifelong learner. A child who learns to respect himself or herself as well as others, and will have the capacity to participate in the world around them.
Curriculum and Programs
Our school offers a range of educational programs for children from 6 weeks to 5 years old and before and after school care for children 5 to 12 years old. Chinese, Spanish, tumbling, sports, karate and sign language are offered in addition to our strong academic curriculum. Program summaries for each age group are provided below.
Infants (6+ Weeks)
Early experiences affect the development of your infant’s brain. Our specially trained infant teachers will stimulate your baby’s cognitive, emotional, and physical development by talking, cuddling, reading, singing, and playing.
Toddlers (12+ months)
Discovery Schoolhouse focuses on active exploration through puzzles, creative art, and books while helping them gain confidence in their abilities.
Early Preschool (2 – 3)
Discovery Schoolhouse’s A Beka curriculum, classrooms, and teachers provide an environment that enables self directed play, small group education, circle time with larger groups, and individual play with teachers.
Preschool Program (4 – 5 year olds)
Discovery Schoolhouse’s program helps prepare your child for Kindergarten by teaching academic and social skills.
Children this age thrive on friendships, responsibility and challenges found in a dynamic world. Discovery Schoolhouse provides a structured and safe environment for children to explore and learn.
